Encounters of epic proportions
Head inland and explore the rolling grasslands, wetlands, lakes, and open plains of the Maputo National Park, situated only an hour away from Santa Maria. Over 400 elephants roam the reserve, and you could see large herds grazing on the open floodplains or a lonely bull browsing in the dune forests, from our open game viewing vehicle. You are very likely to spot healthy populations of blue wildebeest, common reedbuck, nyala, impala, giraffe, waterbuck and zebra and if you’re in luck more elusive antelope like red duiker, steenbuck, bushbuck and even the diminutive suni might cross your path. Other large mammals like hippo, buffalo and eland are spotted from time-to-time.

Sit back and enjoy the surroundings
Trips to the Maputo National Park can be arranged prior to your stay. It takes an hour to reach the reserve give or take, and about two hours to navigate the routes in the reserve. All in all, expect to spend about five to six hours fully exploring and appreciating the vast beauty of the reserve and the abundant wildlife that call it home. Rates are available on request and include a pre-packed picnic basket and drinks.
