Mangrove boat cruise and kayaking

Marvel at the mangroves

Take a trip by boat into the enchanted mangrove forests of Inhaca Island. And, if you’re willing to go further, you’ll be rewarded with close encounters of birdlife and other natural wonders.

Closer to nature, like never before

Climb aboard Titan, our 28-foot deep sea fishing boat, and in 20 minutes you’ll reach the magnificent mangrove forests of Inhaca Island. Go where no boat can go and experience this incredible natural wonder from your kayak. At some point you’ll have to turn around, but you’ll leave feeling like you have a deeper connection with Mother Nature.

A mosaic of salt-tolerant trees and plants have adapted over time to the constant inundation of saltwater, incoming tides, wave action, and low oxygen conditions of waterlogged mud in which they grow.

A birding paradise

The mangroves, marshes, and dune forests of Inhaca Island are home to some ‘mega tick’ species from the Palearctic region and mainland Africa. Specials include mangrove kingfisher, crab plover, greater flamingo, and sooty falcon. The greater flamingos gather here in huge flocks. Their bright pink underwings make for incredible photos when they alight and fly in formation. Birders will enjoy sightings of pied kingfishers, egrets, cormorants, and if you’re lucky, the resident pelican. The fluctuating tides cause rises and drops of water levels in the mangrove forest. The best time to watch and photograph large flocks of flamingos, waders, and other estuary birds is at high tide.
